Superb Quality Russian Cobalt Blue Crystal Clear Rock Crystal Chandeliers

Unique and Antique from Johan Zekh, this pair of beautiful cobalt blue crystal and rock crystal chandeliers hung on a bronze gilt frame are beautiful examples of the Russian Imperial early 19th century neoclassical style. Johan Zekh, was one of Saint-Petersburg’s most celebrated chandelier makers who created 21 chandeliers from 14 different models for the Mikhailovsky Castle in St Petersburg, built as a residence for Emperor Paul I.
The central cobalt blue baluster rises to an upper crown that splays out with a triple layer of 6, 12 and 18 fronds each terminating in rock crystal beads ending in a small rhomboid. A 10 light chandelier with an additional 5 obelisks each topped with an 8 frond display with further rock crystal buttons and rhomboids. Each obelisk display is topped with a rock crystal facetted diamond button above. The arms are linked by rock crystal garlands to the gilt drip pans from which hang rock crystal plaques. All terminating below with a large rock crystal facetted pear. Overall a superb example and would grace any ceiling
